Trent Valley Angling
Membership Fishing Rules

MEMBERSHIP FISHING RULES

These are the rules when fishing or visiting TVA waters. When you have applied for membership (using the online form or the paper form) it means you have read, understand and will follow the membership rules at all times (no ifs or buts). If you break a rule you will lose your membership and you will not be entitled to a refund. These rules may be updated or added to at anytime. It is your responsibility to check these before fishing or visiting TVA waters.

ANGLING TRUST - FISHING DURING COVID19
Members must follow the Angling Trust guidance. Click here anglingtrust.net/covid-19/

  1. CONDITIONS OF MEMBERSHIP.  In addition to the Conditions of Membership in your membership book, new conditions may be added at any time so read the Conditions of Membership on the website before fishing or visiting TVA waters
  2. MEMBERSHIP DURATION AND EXPIRY DATE: membership runs for 12 months (membership expiry date is stated in the Membership Book)
  3. CLOSE SEASON (River Trent): 15th March to 15th June (inclusive). This means no fishing on the river from midnight 14th March to midnight 15th June
  4. MINI CLOSE SEASON (Holme Pit and Dunkirk Pond): Holme Pit and Dunkirk Pond are open all year - a mini close season will be applied when the fish start spawning. Before fishing, speak to a bailiff
  5. ROD LICENCE(S): you must have an Environment Agency rod licence(s) for all rods being used
  6. MEMBERSHIP BOOK: always carry your Membership Book when fishing (no book means no fishing)
  7. GUESTS: no fishing guests. Fishing restricted to members only
  8. GATE CODES AND ACCESS: access to members only. Do not give gate codes to non-members or let non-members through the gates
  9. NUMBER OF RODS: maximum of 3 rods on Holme Pit
  10. FISH CARE: all fish caught must be returned to the water ASAP. When fishing for carp, barbel or pike use a padded unhooking mat at all times (minimum size 30 x 40 inches)
  11. FISH CARE: members must have a fish care kit with an antiseptic gel or liquid
  12. FISH CARE: use a retaining sack for the minimum of amount of time. Do not put carp, barbel or pike in a keep net
  13. FISH CARE: All your rods must be set up and positioned on or near your peg (this means the peg where you are based / seated / where your bivvy / brolly is set up)
  14. FISH CARE: your rods are your responsibility. When cast out, do not leave your rods unattended at any time. Always reel your rods in if you leave your peg
  15. FISH CARE / MAIN LINE: to reduce the likelihood of damage to fish and scales from naked main line, you must use tubing of a suitable length above the lead (excludes zig rigs and floater fishing rigs)
  16. PEG OCCUPANCY (applies to Holme Pit, Dunkirk Pond and the River): restricted to a maximum of 5 nights after which you must remove all your fishing tackle and vacate the peg. Do not reoccupy the peg for the next 5 days/nights (this gives other members an opportunity to fish the peg)
  17. DISCARDED TACKLE: put all discarded fishing line, baits tins, hooks and other tackle in a bag and take it home.  Any discarded tackle (and litter) found at and around your peg is your responsibility
  18. LITTER: members are responsible for the removal of all litter found at and around their peg
  19. BOATS: no rowing boats or inflatable dinghy’s on Holme Pit or Dunkirk Pond (except for work parties). You may use a rowing boat / dinghy on the river. Life jackets must be worn at all times on the river (no life jacket means no boat)
  20. BAIT BOATS: bait baits are permitted on Holme Pit and the River (subject to the Bait Boat rules on Holme Pit click here)
  21. WHERE TO FISH: fish from designated pegs / platforms only
  22. BEHAVIOUR: respect other members. Keep noise to a minimum. No bright lights or loud music. Be polite to the public at all times
  23. BAILIFFING: if you see anyone fishing, be polite and ask to see their Membership Book. Report anyone fishing without a Book to a Committee member or bailiff
  24. BBQ'S AND FIRES: no fires (fires damage the grass and fishing pegs). BBQ's are allowed. Disposable BBQ's must be placed on a non-combustible surface and not on the grass or fishing peg
  25. HYDRO POWER STATION ON THE WEIR: members must not fish within the Hydro Power Station compound. This is private property and is not included in your TVA membership
IF YOU BREAK A RULE YOU WILL LOSE YOUR MEMBERSHIP
