When can members get set up ready for the 16th June?

7/6/2020

When Government announced that fishing was allowed during the lock down restrictions, on 13th May the Angling Trust asked the Government to clarify if night fishing is allowed during the restrictions because camping (and staying out, away from home) is not allowed. Camping / staying out overnight is allowed only if you are (legally) fishing. The river season doesn't start until midnight on the 15th June. Therefore, until midnight 15th June anyone in a bivvy, under a brolly or other shelter on the river bank is classed as camping and not fishing. To comply with lock down restrictions and AT guidance, we ask that members do not set up until 7am on Monday 15th June (obviously no fishing until midnight).

Weed spraying at Holme Pit

21/5/2020

From March to September each year we treat the filamentous algae at Holme Pit with a product called Excalibur, a liquid barley straw. The spraying takes place from a boat and usually takes around 2/3 hours to complete. You will be asked to bring your rods in during the spraying. Its safe for the fish and doesn't affect the fishing.

Spraying will take place on the followings days at 9.30 am. Please note - dates are subject to change so if you want to check before you go fishing, call Sion on 07447 013909.

Friday 22nd May 2020
Friday 5th June 2020
Friday 19th June 2020
Friday 3rd July 2020
and then every two weeks during the growing season.
